Amid the routines, chores, shuttling, appointments, work and cleaning we are finding time for US. When I say "us" I mean our family. At times, life seems to get in the way of creating memories, quality time and joy of life. That is a choice. Just as you choose to love your spouse each and every day, we choose to make our family a unit. I have such strong memories from my childhood of helping my mom with chores in the house learning along side her. Also, helping my dad in the yard or on a vehicle. Life lessons you learn while having time to just be with family. I strive to have this with and for my girls. A strong sense of family.
A great way to share this would be this past weekend. Saturday was full of chores that needed to be done. A major task to complete was to finish clearing out the garage so my truck could fit in it for the winter. How can you find "time for us" in that chore? Let the girls get filthy dirty playing in the dirt, chalk and who knows what else... all the while mom and dad can get the garage clean. We were together, having fun and able to smile. :o) As a reward, take advantage of our year pass to the zoo and check out a few animals before a nice supper together. Us time.
Sunday is another example... church as a family. Our children are being taken care of in a loving way and learning about God. The best part, we are being fed spiritually as a couple through strong preaching.
One of my best memories growing up was Sunday evenings as a family. We would watch a program together... Murder She Wrote, National Geographics, movies... but something as a family with popcorn. To me life could not get any better at those momements. What a better way to continue this "tradition" than to have movie night with the girls. A family friendly SHORT movie was scheduled for 7pm and we popped some popcorn, made some brownies, donned the pj's, brought out our pillows and just hung out as a family. This my friends I suggest to all families... young and old. Quality time. It amazes me the things the girls are willing to share randomly during these times.
