A week on the couch is a LONG time.
Never in my life did I think I could sit on a couch and do nothing for a week. Really. If you know me, that is unheard of! I am not one to let others do things for me. If I am sick, I usually brush it off and just do what has to be done and crash early in the evening. Well, not this time.
I am stuck. Since Saturday afternoon I have been on our couch or in my bed. Not what I would call vacation, fun, enjoyment or pleasure. From both locations I can SEE things that need to be done. Dishes, dusting, vacuuming, straightening, organizing, etc. It is sheer torture at times. What makes it worse? Even when I think I might be able to do something about it? I really don't have it in me. GRRRRRR... that gets me even more mad.
That leaves me dependant on others. I am not good at that. I am mom. I am wife. I am woman of the house. It is MY JOB to keep it running smoothly. Keep lunches made, dinners planned, prepped and made, dishes, cleaning, laundry, etc. Yes, Chad helps a lot all the time, but I try to do the majority. Poor guy is doing it all. It is a lesson in humility. I have to let him. I have to let go.
He is doing it with a loving heart. No complaining, no whining, just getting the job done. All while I sit here MAD that I am just sitting here. But, I know if I don't sit, I will get in trouble from not only Chad but my mom, my mother-in-law and the doctor. Then I won't get better. Then I will be stuck sitting here longer, dependant on others longer. Then I will be in trouble with myself.
So I sit, another day. Making a full week of nothing. No make-up, no hair done, sweats, sweatshirts and slippers. My comfy pillows and blankets all around me and the loves from my girls at home. Oh, and my trusty computer that keeps me connected to my friends who message me during the day since my voice is pretty much non-existent.
Now here is to a quiet weekend of movies, cartoons, MORE TIME ON THE COUCH and health so I can be back to my normal non-pneumonia self next week for the sake of everyone!
