Our Family Adventure: Where Have We Been?!?!?!?

I apologize for the long hiatus. I COULD go into a laundry list of excuses as to why I did not blog since April, but then that would take me way too long. What I can do is fill you in on what an amazing end of the Spring and Summer we have had with family and friends!

May was a fast a furious month. It was a healing month for me as each day I felt stronger from the surgery. The girls wound down to their last days of school in Missouri, it was hard to say "see you later" but exciting to step forward towards a new adventure. Madison turned 8! By the end of the month we spent Memorial Day in Branson, MO as a family doing what a do best... exploring, field trips and lounging poolside.

June was full of packing, packing and more packing! We did a FULL DITY. (To our non-military friends and family that means we chose to pack and move ourselves and have the military pay us.) It was a lot of hard work, but we enjoy knowing where everything is, how it is packed and confident nothing is misplaced or taken. O'ma and O'pa flew in right before we loaded the moving truck to help with the caravan of vehicles and trailers; we pushed out on 25th. We stayed on night on the road in Lexington, KY and then pulled into Fort Eustis, VA on the 26th. First thing June 27th Chad and I signed the lease for our home here on post. It was a blessing that Chad had it all arranged and waiting for us to move right in without having to search for a house. God is GOOD and we were unloaded with minimal injuries or damage and June came to an end with us in our new home and we were able to celebrate Lillian's 4th birthday in our new home!

July 4th we spent with our new neighbors from the alleyway and had a BBQ and saw fireworks in Yorktown just 15 minutes away. The following day Hannah turned 6! Just a few days later Chad had to leave for a four week course in New Mexico and the girls and I cruised Williamsburg, Jamestown, Newport News, Fort Eustis, Portsmouth and and Hampton. It was sightseeing, swimming, bike riding, driving, playing, PWOC, walking, talking, exploring and so much more. We chose to learn about all that was around us and not be board stuck in the house.

August finally arrived and daddy was coming home! The girls and I continued our weekly adventures and explored the beautiful surroundings we have been blessed with here in Virginia and daddy spent two weeks at his new job. Our neighborhood alleyway had a "Low Country Boil" one evening and hung out as a group. What a blessing to have a community that will come together to just "be!" As August comes to an end, Daddy has to leave for four months for ILE, school supplies and clothes have to be purchased for the girls for the upcoming school year, we wait to hear when Lillian gets to start Pre-K (she is #3 on the wait list, but will start speech therapy on time) and lastly we are having our last few hoorahs of the summer.

I PROMISE to try and not have such a long hiatus from blogging again. Yes, there were many funny stories from this summer. For example when my neighborhood men realized I knew how to grill my own meat on "my husband's grill" while he was gone. Oh the nerve! But I suppose those will have to be left to the ears of those who heard them for enjoyment.
