St. Louis Getaway

This past weekend Chad and I were able to whisk the family away to St. Louis for a weekend getaway. It was for an Army "Strong Bonds" marriage retreat put on by our Chaplain.

The tree is about to bloom!

We were put up in a beautiful hotel right at the foot of the Arch. We even had a little view of it from our room. Madison stood on our window ledge one morning "washing the windows of the steam" so she could see out.
The lobby of our hotel. They were discussing if the statues came to life like in the movie! :D

Chad and I enjoyed our sessions Friday night and Saturday and even had a little quiet time Saturday afternoon for a short date while the girls were in childcare. It was a blessing to have time to focus on our marriage and us for a change instead of the girls and the hustle and bustle of our scheduled lives.

Waiting for class to start after a break... yep, nine years with me...
We all spent our evenings together at the pool area. The hot tub was right next to the pool so Chad and I could relax in warmth while the girls jumped and splashed and giggled in the "COLD" water within a safe distance of rescuing.

Out on our walk for a mini-date
Sunday we had a small but meaningful service with the Chaplain and then had the rest of the day as a family. Not only was it a weekend for marriage focus, but it was a reminder that when Chad and I are a team and on the same page our family is going to be as well.

Our view during meals. That is the reflection of the Arch in the building. Pretty neat.
