Some Things

While reading my Bible this morning I was in Jude. It was out of order, no particular reason (according to my brain). That is just where I was. I get to the end of the very short book and it ends with a "doxology."
It reads:
"Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen." Jude 24-25 (ESV)
As I read it I could hear my Grandpa McClane speaking it from the pulpit clearly. I felt like that child sitting in the pew all those years ago wide eyed soaking in his words. You see, he ended all his sermons, messages, teachings and meetings with a doxology of some kind. He was a preacher, a teacher and a missionary. I learned so much from him in the years I spent with him. My summers I would go on trips with him around the US and Canada on missions and work with him in the church when I had a chance. No wonder I can still hear his voice when a doxology is read or spoken.
God's words can not be taken lightly. That is one thing he taught me. Look at that verse again! HE can keep us from stumbling and blameless. There is great joy and majesty in the one and only GOD and SAVIOR now and FOREVER!
Time for me to refocus on the importance of HIS almighty joy and majesty and HIS ability to make me blameless and spotless and less on my faults.
Some things will forever have the voices of the past... in a good way. Thanks grandpa for the reminder.
