God is Holding My Hand!

"Did you know...
That God will hold my hand during my surgery?!?! I won't be scared. I will be okay."

That is what Hannah told her sisters and me in the truck a few days before her surgery. There was no prompting or even telling her about it. It was just a matter of fact thing for her. At that moment I knew that she does listen during our nightly devotions and when we talk as a family about God, even when we feel like she is not.
Monday was the big day. Her tonsils and adenoids were scheduled to come out. Hannah was confident, not scared, timid or even shy. She was quite talkative which is unusual for her if you are not in her "close circle" of friends. Daddy drove her to the hospital while I got Madison and Lillian to a friend's house for the day. (Can I just say we are so blessed with wonderful friends here in Missouri who have taken care of our family and blessed us during some very hard and wonderful times this past year. God is an amazing God for giving us such friends!!!)
Once we were in the "prep-room" that is when Hannah showed her first signs of fear. All it took was for Daddy to whisper a few words of encouragement and she was back to coloring a picture and all was well in her world once again. We were not allowed to go any further than this room. The did not do an IV until she was asleep and that was in another room, so as they wheeled her down the hallway she was talking to the nurses and waved back at us in the hallway. She was doing better than Mommy!
It was a quick procedure (about 30 minutes). By the time I got to her after surgery in the recovery room she was very upset and I crawled in the bed with her and held her tight for a good long time. During that time the nurse told me that Hannah told the doctors and nurses that God was holding her hand and that she wanted a dog. That is all she talked about until she fell asleep.
Hannah kept BEGGING to go home (just like her mommy, she would much rather be at home than a hospital). So once they got her nausea under control and she was there for the minimum amount of time they let Daddy take her home and I went and got her sisters.
Today is day "3" or the second full day after surgery. The nights have been the roughest for her, but we are fever free and no bleeding. Please keep her in your prayers for continued healing over the next few weeks.
You are a brave girl, Hannah bear!!! We love you!!!
