Mini-Vacay

We took a mini-vacation to Tulsa for one night this past weekend. It was a complete surprise for the girls up until Friday afternoon when I was getting the suitcase out of the attic. Chad and I wanted it to be a little getaway for our family right before school started this Thursday, but also it was an opportunity for him to see his friend who is drilling for the summer with his reserve unit. We had some good time to talk with Chad's friend and they had time to reconnect.
Saturday morning the girls were excited to be up and get to choose from a yummy buffet breakfast and then we went up and changed and they swam for almost an hour in the pool at the hotel. There were only two other kids in the pool which allowed for lots of space to jump, splash and have fun with daddy and mommy.

Later we spent time at the aquatirum where the girls loved to see the sharks. They have bull sharks in the large shark walk through tube which was really spectacular. Chad and I had never seen them in captivity before and these ones were HUGE! The tropical fish reef tank was beautiful and the girls just love to stand there and stare. They get mesmerized by the fish and the reflection of the water off the coral. The touch pool was neat for the girls as well. They were able to touch shrimp, horseshoe crabs, baby sharks, starfish and a few other things as well. Overall I would say it was a HIT, minus the meltdowns here and there from being hungry, tired or not going fast or slow enough! ;o)

Another high-light was to be able to go shopping in a real mall. The "real mall" even had a carrosel that all three girls were able to ride which helped ease the torture of waiting for mommy while she tried on clothes in so many stores.

With our mini-vacation at an end, I think it is safe to say we are ready for school to start on Thursday. Summer has been full of adventures left and right. Some were lots of fun, some were hard and some were scary, but most were full of laughs, giggles, smiles and memories that will last.
