The girls and I were in Virginia visiting Chad and were scheduled to leave Saturday, but Friday afternoon I decided we should stay another day.
Friday was "Family Day" for the group Chad is working with and it was at a park in Stafford. They had a BBQ, games, "brown nosing" and paddle boats. Chad CHOSE to take the girls on the paddle boats. It was HOT, the kind of HOT and HUMID that makes you feel sick at times. We did not let that stop our fun. They had a great time and being together was well worth it all. We even ended the afternoon with a trip to Maggie Moos to get some oh so yummy and COLD ice cream.
After our little adventure to the Family Day and ice cream it was still 4pm. We were in NO MOOD to take the girls back to the hotel and just sit around so we took another adventure of the day... Potomac Winery. It was FABULOUS! They had a little playroom next to the wine tasting bar, Chad and I got to talk, laugh and enjoy adult conversation while the girls played in the room with glass doors.
Friday was such a wonderful day that Chad and I agreed that the girls and I stay another day. We spent Saturday with a quiet breakfast, got ready and left on our adventure. We scouted out a few wineries in the area, some SMALL and some HUGE! All were fun, different and very much entertaining for the girls. They all welcomed our family and did not get grumpy we had the girls with us.
The last stop of the day was to the winery from the day before. The girls enjoyed a snack and "water wine" with mommy and daddy and we soaked up the family time.
What a great family day. The girls played, laughed, pretended to be grown up all while Chad and I could enjoy some quality time together as well.
Now we are back trying to find our summer routine. Praying daddy a safe travel home soon!
