Today was a rainy, cool fall day. There was little motivation to go outside on the girls' part; who can blame them?
First thing this morning Madison and Hannah spent time reading (about an hour each). (Lillian practiced singing her ABCs and naming letters she saw around the house.) After they were so responsible getting reading time in without being told to do so, I rewarded them all with a movie.
It was Lillian's turn to choose a movie. She had been asking to watch the original "Peter Pan" so we popped that into the player. Next thing I know it was lunch time! No one was fighting, yelling, pounding toys or overly annoyed with another sibling. SCORE!
Reward for the girls? A healthy chicken, rice and broccoli bake. ;oP
Then I decided that it was Hannah's turn to chose a movie. Why ruin a good thing, right? Of course Hannah chose "The Little Mermaid." By the end of the movie the girls were still doing well.
Reward for the girls? A healthy snack of a banana.
Once again I thought, "Why ruin a good thing?" It was Madison's turn to chose a movie. She chose "Sleeping Beauty," of course! By the end of the movie the girls were still being superb! They all decided to go upstairs and play with toys TOGETHER!
At this point I am wondering who abducted my girls and replaced them with "good robots" that are acting so well.
Reward for the girls? An unhealthy (but a favorite) supper of a corn dog, banana and apple juice.
Their manners were great. As though they were being tested on how well they could do. Yet, no one but me was there to see all of this!
Reward for the girls? ANOTHER movie. This time mommy's choice. I had recorded Lion King 1/2 earlier this week off the Disney Channel and que'd it up as they picked up their toys upstairs without being asked.
Because of their great behavior, their reward was a big bowl of popcorn to share while they watched the LAST movie of the day.
The day is drawing to an end. I got little done. However horrible it is... I am STILL in my pajamas and proud of the fact I was able to let lose and enjoy the day with the girls. Not many of these days exist in our home, but when they do they are well worth it.
