A little about Kansas

Culture Shock! At least for me and the girls.
Kansas was yet another family adventure. It started at 4pm on the 21st. We headed out and drove 20.5 hours straight through. We stopped for gas/ potty every 4-5 hours and we ALL got out of the truck for breakfast at McDonald's. That is it! The girls did a great job. Were they perfect... nope... but the held it together, slept well in their seats and entertained themselves.
We stayed with Chad's Grandma Nash for the week we were in town. She was gracious and just let our kids take over her house. What a blessing!
Here are a few of the things we did:

  1. First Smoked Cook Off... placed 27 out of 33... ouch!
  2. Swam in the pools
  3. Dalton Gang Hideout
  4. Boot Hill
  5. Steer Roping Trials at the arena
  6. Family reunion in a barn at Cousin Waco's house
  7. Rode Horses
  8. Gathered eggs and fed chickens
  9. Relaxed out at the farm with cousins, aunts and uncles
  10. A real RODEO
and so much more!
Then it was on to Wichita to drop off O'ma and O'pa and then headed up to Manhattan, KS to visit my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins and their families. It was a fast 24 hours, but the time was priceless (post below).
Our trip was not over. There was still a 12 hour drive to Columbus, OH to find a new home for the next year, dinner with Chad's new boss and orientation for Chad's new job.
The girls were amazing once again for a 12 hour drive. We got in at 3:30am and hit the ground running after a quick shower and picking O'ma up at the airport on Saturday. By Sunday evening around 5pm Chad and I had signed on our new Town Home.
The days in Ohio were packed, but we think we have a good feel for the area and look forward to the upcoming year and all that is in store for our family.
Of course the 6 hour drive home was a piece of cake after all the other LONG drives. So we are "home" for a few days before the move to Ohio is here!
