January started the New Year off with a bang. On New Year’s day Chad and I chose to trade in the van and get me my “dream” SUV. We took a trip to Hershey’s Chocolate world. We also made an impromptu visit to the fire station to get Lillian’s car seat fixed.
February was a busy month. O’ma and O’pa drove up to Maryland for a visit and took us to Gettysburg and the Boyd’s Bears Factory. Chad took the girls and I to our first rodeo. No matter how small and minor league it was, the girls loved it! To end the month, Hannah had her first hair cut and Lillian learned how to pull up on furniture.
March started off with the first snow fall that allowed the girls to play in and slide down our steep driveway; the month ended on a very warm note and the girls did yard work in sundresses.
April marked our 6th anniversary. We spent it with the girls in downtown Washington DC enjoying the Cherry Blossoms and national monuments. Lillian learned how to crawl, and we took many field trips around Maryland and DC enjoying the area that we were living. We even made a trip to a beach where there were shark’s teeth on the sand!
May we celebrated Madison’s 5th birthday, the end of her pre-school years and her promotion to move onto Kindergarten. After her birthday we made a trip across the USA to Oregon and had 10 days with my side of the family. We spent time on the Oregon Coast, took a trip to Central Oregon to visit cousins and made memories with Grandma and Grandpa.
June we laid low as a family and enjoyed the slow pace of early summer. By the middle of the month Lillian had learned to walk and on the 30th we celebrated Lillian’s 1st birthday.
July was another crazy month for our family. We started it off with a trip to the zoo for Hannah’s 3rd birthday! The following week we had a visit from Chad’s best friend Phil and his family. To end the month we headed to Kansas. It was a 20 plus hour drive with the girls. We experienced our first real BIG rodeo, horseback riding and of course calf fries. Time with Chad’s side of the family and my Aunt and Uncle were blessings.
August started off in Ohio with our family and O’ma looking for a home for our family. With God’s guidance it took very little time and by the middle of the month we had our home in Maryland pack out, and our home in Ohio settled. Madison started Kindergarten at the end of the month and rode the bus for the first time.
September was Chad’s Change of Command. He left his Recruiting command and started his year doing “Train With Industry” at Battelle. We had our first family trip to the “best zoo in the nation” here in town. Hannah started Pre-school and grew up right before our eyes.
October we had our first Sunday night movie night as a family. Mid-month we had a visit from Grandma. The girls loved the one on one time with her. They even got to take her to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins.
November was glorious weather for us. We went on our first family nature hike at a national park and the girls loved exploring and getting muddy. Thanksgiving was spent at John and Luetta’s home (Chad’s boss’s home). Saturday after Thanksgiving we went our on our second annual Christmas tree hunt.
December has been a full month. We went to a Christmas concert at church and got all dressed up. Chad took the two of us out on a date as a complete surprise. We enjoyed a Christmas party with our neighbors in the community. We even had our first real snow fall here in Ohio and we built a snow couple and enjoyed the Zoo Lights. The girls are anticipating Christmas morning and celebrating Jesus’ birthday.
2009 was a full and eventful year for our family. We moved once again. Yet, the move has been rewarding and a blessing. As we go into the year 2010, we look forward to what God will show and provide for our family and how we can serve Him more. We know a move is coming in September, but until then we will live in the now here in Ohio and enjoy all that is around for our family to explore.
May love and true joy fill your year to come. May the peace of God fill your hearts, minds and souls and His blessing fill your being in all circumstances.
Love,
Chad, Alicia, Madison, Hannah and Lillian
