After several months of waking to Lillian LOUDLY talking and yelling from her crib to her sisters to wake-up and then trying to escape by hiking her leg over the crib's railing, we caved and got her a big girl bed.
Transitioning a child from a crib to a bed without boundaries turns a great sleeper into an emotional, sporadic sleeper. It is almost harder than potty training, so I drag my feet until I know we have to move them into that bed. Since all the girls share one room I was hopeful for an easier transition since the older two could coach Lillian on how to stay in bed. My hopes were answered. Hannah of course had to shush and talk to Lillian the almost one full hour, but they all fell asleep. When I went to check on them later in the evening, they were all snug in their own BIG GIRL beds. Even Lillian's nap was not as torturous as I had anticipated. I just stayed outside her door for ten minutes and she was asleep IN the bed.
It is strange to process that there are no more cribs in the house, no more baby gear and what is left is being purged slowly but surely. We have another little one moving up into being a little girl, not a baby and not so much a toddler either. Though all my girls are still "baby" to me.
