Remembering

9 years ago seems like ages to me. I was in grad-school, student teaching, taking night classes and also working as a Graduate Teaching Fellow that paid for my tuition. My life was chaotic. (Or so I thought.) Then 9 years ago it all changed. I headed to my student teaching with a heavy heart and swollen eyes. Praying that God would give me strength to make it through the day. My advisor teacher had a son in the military and she was panicked all day. I taught the entire day of class for her even though I was only suppose to be there until lunch. It was on of those times God clearly gave me the strength I needed not only for myself but the advisor and the 8th graders staring at me in front of the classroom. Later that night I was able to just talk and love on my fellow graduate friends while "doing class."

Then, 1 year later I met my hero. A true American Soldier who loves his country and lives daily the oath he took at a young age of 17. I never really expected to meet a military man, let alone fall in love with one! God had a better idea.

Our dating and engagement were short, always the fear (on my part) that he would leave, but once again, God had a better idea. We were able to start a family before he had to go.

He has fought for our country. We have endured being apart and it is not fun. However, I am so proud of my soldier, his loyalty and commitment to this great country. He continues to train and better himself daily, ready to fight at a moment's notice.

I love my God, my Soldier and my Country.

With complete pride and honor I can say, "God Bless America! Land that I love!"
